Hi Andreas Thanks for the program! Have just downloaded and now to try it! Will also be keeping a watch on DA!
Have fun! 🙂
Hello,
I am French and I use JWildfire for a long time and I have actuellemnt the last version 2.57.
Can you tell me why I cannot use any more my pallets and my scripts?
They are to place respectively in:
“G:Program FilesJWildfireGradientsAnimals”
“G:Program FilesJWildfireGradientsBlatte”
“G:Program FilesJWildfireGradientsDimitri – CSS3 Colors pallete” etc…
“G:Program FilesJWildfireScriptsJWF Script Pack”
“G:Program FilesJWildfireScriptsNews”
Thank you for your answer.
Best Regards, Laurent.
Hi,
as far as I know nothing has changed regarding this for ages, so you should be able to use them.
Nobody else has reported such a problem yet, and it works for me, too.
Can you explain your problem in more detail?
Best regards
Tried to download JWildfire but doesnt work
What does’t work? The download or the software?
Hello,
The program is great, I love it! 🙂 May I ask, is it possible render the JWF flames in command line with parameters ? Something like “java -jar j-wildfire-launcher.jar with parameters input flame/output path, resolution, quality, hdr. Thank you
Hello and thank you! 🙂
There is no command line yet, but planned.
Best regards,
Andreas
Hallo
Hi. I have used youn ther program on Windows, but now I’m on a MacBook Pro. The program is GREAT! and work just fine, but there is a but! I can’t find the path for the scripts. I have found the preferences and the line to Tina jwscriptspath. But I can’t figure out what to put on the line. The program folder is under application folder. (In Norwegian: Programmer. ) The address is: Macintosh HD/Programmer/j-wildfire-2.00/Scripts. I shut the program, restart and scan, but nothing shows up in the Your scripts in the script window. Hope you can help. Have a nice day. Greetings from Norway. Trond
Just create a script folder at your machine (outside of the JWildfire-folder) and put the path to this folder in the Prefs. Regards
Hello!
JWildfire becomes more and more powerful with every release, it’s so great! Thank you!
Is there possible to add option of saving render state at batch render? Fractals with different structure need to be rendered different time, if they have regions with gradients some extra time needed to make them smoother. It can be really useful to have an option to continue render if some parts still looks rough after 20,000 quality (and I thought that is enough for everything, but it happened to be not).
Hello! I will think it over, thanks for the feedback! If you have more suggestions, please use the forum.
Regards,
Andreas
Thank you very much for answer and thinking about my suggestion! 🙂
I just installed version 2 ALPHA 2 over version 2 ALPHA; the channel mixer for me is an even greater expansion of gradient enhancement on top of xaos, color, gamma controls! In case anyone else runs into this problem: ALPHA 2 despite set at 12000MB memory and JRE 8 on Windows 7 64 bit would load slowly, and quick render/controls/image loads would go very slowly; I finally found that although Comodo CIS7 has been told to run JWildfire ALPHA 2 with all system priviliges, still under firewall settings for “unrecognized files” it was putting a hold on three of this alpha’s .jar files; once I told CIS7 to move these files to “Trusted”, all ran fine as usual once again. Definitely check with your OS security utilities if this alpha is running slow/poorly for you, even if other JW versions ran without known security/AV issues. Hope this helps, thanks again for another great version, cheers!
Hello,
I can’t explain error because I didn’t have any error-message. When I ran jwildfire under win 8.1 update 1 x64 with java 9 x64 nothing happened. No alerts, no error message. I tried to set compatibility but it didn’t help.
Regards,
Pedja.
In case you missed it, here is the link to the forum: http://jwildfire.org/forum/
Hello Andreas,
It’s not my first time to comment your wonderful program. It’s one of the best, but one ting make me sad, new version too not working under Win 8.1 update 1 x64 with Java 9. I tried everything set compatibility…. but nothing. Why it’s not working under Win 8.1 and when it will work. Since now I have to have used your program in my old notebook (working under Win Vista SP2 x32 with Java 8).
I wish you all best,
Pedja.
Hello,
please join the forum and describe the error-message you get. Normally the software runs on any major OS without any problems. You will just need a recent Java runtime (Java 8, 64 BIT, recommended)
Andreas
hallo andreas,
http://facebook.com/alexanderdeboirofficial
Hi Andreas,
I absolutely love your program but keep getting this message and need advice please?

kind regards,

Probably you are now using java7 or higher and the path mentioned (C:Program FilesJavajre6binjava) is wrong, so just try to update/correct the path
Andreas
Thank you for your great program and it’s rapid updates again! 🙂
If it not too complex to do, can you consider adding exit program confirmation, when render still in progress?
Reason is that fractal need to be rendered for few hours for best quality, but after few hours you simply may forget about render in progress and click “close” without second thought so few hours of render became lost.
I have added a general warning dialog when exiting the app (comes with next release).
Best regards,
Andreas
Andreas! I had a terrible virus on my computer and now I find that I have lost my JWildfire program. I can’t seem to find a link to download it again. Please email me the link if you would please! This has become my favorite program!! Thank you so much!
I dont have you email adress, so I can only link it here: http://www.andreas-maschke.com/?page_id=351
ANYBODY THERE???
Yes, but your question is also covered in the FAQ, so no need to SHOUT here 😉
Thank you for the wonderful program!
I am wondering if there is a way to render larger than the current largest 1920×1080? I would like to be able to render much larger, around 12000 x 12000.
Just define a size profile of your need, there is no limit as long you have enough memory
I like your program a lot, specially since there arefew good fractal software for MacOS. I am just learning…But, where are the scripts ? I dont find them in the program directory. I ressort to tweaking random fractals…Thanks
Best regards
Hello,
currently you can only download the scripts from within the official JWildfire group. But I will include some in the next release.
Best regards,
Andreas
Andreas I am using the new rev3 067 version and as per your read me I attempted to start by using the batch file, I get an error that says “cannot find javaw make sure you typed the name correctly”
So I am using the jar to launch and no problems, but as the read me states I could not render large files etc. any ideas how I can remedy this? thanks
The javaw.exe is not in your search path.
But you can also start the *.jar directly if you make sure you start the launcher-jar (has the same effect as starting the start.bat) and not the the jwildfire jar.
Best regards,
Andreas
I would like to thank you for making such a enjoyable program!
I am disabled and have limited functions I love to play around on Photoshop etc.
Your program has added a new depth and just downright fun to what I do.
I cannot thank you enough I am thoroughly enjoying the beautiful renderings that Jwildfire adds to my photoshop creations Bless you sir.
Thank you very much for this kind feedback and I’m glad that you are enjoying the software so much. BTW: I will release revision 2 of version 0.67 in a few moments 🙂
Best regards,
Andreas
Thanks for the new version I am sure it can only get better, I love this program.
Again I thank you most sincerely Sir.
Thanks for the new release Andreas, I am thoroughly enjoying your program I am just downloading rev3 for the 067 version.
cheers!
Quick question about the frequency setting of the SawTooth motion for the Dancing Flames. It doesn’t seem to be in hertz or frames is there some way to calculate it’s exact time? Actually I just did one more test and it seems to be in percentage of a second? Is this correct ie a value of 100 = 1 second, 50 = .5 seconds etc…
thanks
Keith
Sorry I think just got it it seems to be hertz * 100
thanks
Hi Keith, if I remember right is was rpm (revolutions per minute)
Andreas
Results of a mysterious, strange beauty, different from anything else I have seen up to now!
Thank you!
Please, add me to your mailing list!
Best regards, Eduardo
I have an idea for maybe new adon for your cool prog… I know nothing of programming and have no idea what if what i want to suggest is even possible into Jwildfire..
Have you ever used Bryce 3D? If you have then it’ll be easier to understand what I mean.. It would be cool if it was possible to keep different tweaks of the same flame on screen.. like lets say you make a new gradient and tweak it.. you could click a small tick box in a row of maybe 5 possible versions… then if not happy you can click one of your saved views and go back to previous tweaks..Like in Bryce skieslights when u can click and save a few different sky versions for 1 scene…it could be done for gradients and other tweakable parts… I know one can save actual flames.. But what i mean is not the same :)… I mean being able to switch from different tweaks that you record while working on a specific flame..
Sometimes i suck at explaining what i mean…sorry 🙂
You can create snapshots at any time and switch between them, is this what you mean?
Hi
Thanx so much.. I love your java fractal generator..
I have a small problem.. Most likely it’s just me not knowing how to use it.
When I go to the ”interactive renderer” I can see timer and activity on the left of the render screen… But no image appears.. it just remains black.. Please help thank you 🙂
Hmm, I never heard of such problem before. Do you using some emulating software (e. g. WINE) or using it “plain”? And on which plattform?
I figured out my problem..For some reason I had problems with the internal java… I switched to external 64 bits…and all is cool 🙂
I’m so addicted to this 🙂 It’s only been a few days since I got into fractals, I tried quite a few software but so far it’s yours that’s the best for me by far, I find it very user friendly and the interactive render is amazing 🙂
You can check out a few of my renders on Deviant if you want here’s a link to it.
http://shyruban.deviantart.com/gallery/41174284
Thank you so much, it’s a great Xmas gift for me 🙂
If you have problems with the internal renderer you have probably not enough memory reserved for JWildfire. Are you maybe on a 32 Bit Java? You should always use a 64 Bit Java, this will make the program faster and will allow to use more memory (i.e. larger renders)
Oh forgot to add info you wanted..No I’m not using any emulation software as I got no clue what you mean by that.. I’m on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits.
On a loaded Lenovo W510
i7, 8 gigs of ram and OpenGL graphic adaptor.
I need to build me a desktop if only for fractals, fractal rendering has taken over my lappy hehe.
yes andreas i love this program especially the new updated version, i was wondering how can i transfer scripts from other programs like apophysis?
This is rather simple, but must be done by hand, i. e. there is no ready-to-use converter. If the script is interesting it could be even included into the standard distribution as example. The scripting interface/language of JWildfire is very powerful so that I think all scripts can be converted with ease.
Best regards,
Andreas
I can’t figure out how to save a render. I know there is a save button but what is the file extension and where can I find the file? Love the program!! Any help appreciated thank you in advance~
There are multiple ways, either use the “Render” button on the Main-Editor to create a non-interactive rendering or use the interactive renderer (second tab) to render interactively. On the interactive renderer you can save the image at any time (while its rendering). The file extension is *.png, but there is no need to specify it. Both the “Render” and “Save image” function offer a file dialog, there you specifiy where the images are saved
thank you for your reply! Will copy and save ~ kind regards …
The works are wonderful 🙂 !…Thank you !…
I just installed your fabulous program on my XP desktop, and it runs great except there are no pre-set quality and resolution profiles (the Vista install on my laptop did not have this issue). Any way to correct this?
If you remove your local preferences file the presets should re-appear (But I did not hear of such a problem before). The file is named “j-wildfire.properties” and should be located under C:Users, if not just try to locate it by a windows file search, there should be only one copy.
Best regards
Sorry, the path-related part of my reply is broken, the Forum software removed some term.
The preferences file is located under C:User(your_user_name).
Thanks so much! I am also going to try the memory usage fix you mentioned to someone else to correct a java crash-during-render of a large file.
Watch out for the upcoming release which will come with an alternative (external) renderer optimized to render large/high quality images in acceptable time.
How do I render 14400×10800 file? I keep getting a heap stack error
heap-error means out of memory, i.e. not enough memory
I WOULD LIKE TO BE ON YOUR MAILING LIST
REGARDS AND THANKS
YIGAL
Now you are 🙂
